Isuzu Celebrates 35 Years in the US

Though Isuzu produced its very first automobile in Japan in 1922, it wasn’t until March 21, 1984 that Isuzu Truck of America, Inc. was founded.   A few short months later the very first Isuzu truck, model KS22, arrived in the United States.  The KS22 had no tilt-cab and was powered by an 87hp engine.  Very quickly after, in 1986, Isuzu became the best-selling low-cab-forward truck in the US.  Truck buyers looking for durability, dependability and a low cost of ownership truck found that in Isuzu’s KS22.

The Isuzu product line has come a long way since then and it has managed to maintain their position of best-selling LCF truck since.  Today, Isuzu controls 73% of the class 3-5 LCF truck market in the US.  As Isuzu celebrates this anniversary, they are also looking forward as next year they will introduce 2 new gas powered Class 5 models, the gas NQR and gas NRR.  President of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Shaun Skinner, states “The new NQR and NRR gasoline trucks coming next year demonstrate that we are focused on the future, and providing quality, reliability, and low cost operation to the North American marketplace for another 35 years and beyond.”
